Indie Rose Books for Kids author, Marie Rose, will be signing copies of ZWOOSH! with illustrator, Susan Lee, on November 8, 2014 from 8 pm to midnight at Art After Dark at Clockwork Couture 707 S. Main Street in Burbank, CA along with other area exhibiting artists.
Zwoosh! is a new children’s bedtime story written by Marie Rose and illustrated by Susan Lee. It’s a fun and engaging book about a little boy who takes a ride on his rainbow rocket ship before bedtime.
I really enjoyed Zwoosh!; the story line is fun and I love the illustrations. According to the back of the book, the illustrations were inspired by Vincent Van Gogh and it really shows. The colors are bright and vivid and in Connor’s word “zwooshy”. Another great aspect of the book is that kids get introduced to the colors of the rainbow and all the planets in our solar system. I recommend Zwoosh! to anyone looking for a fun bedtime or anytime story.
I think this is a good bedtime story. My favorite part is the moon men because they’re funny. I really like all the pictures. They look like they are painted; they’re “zwooshy”.
I like it; I like all the pictures. My favorite parts are the space race and the moon men picnic. I like the rainbow rocket. It’s colorful and its trail is colorful.
As Kris Kringle in “Miracle on 34th Street” puts it, “I’m as old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth.”
Where are you from?
I’m a retired army brat, so I grew up all over, as a citizen of the world. Lately, I’m “from” Los Angeles, CA. I moved here the day the L.A. Riots broke out, and stayed for the drought, floods, fires, and ‘quakes. O my!
A little about your self `ie your education Family life etc
My training includes a Master of Arts in Theatre Arts from the University of Texas at El Paso. I’m also a proud alumna of the American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women (through which I directed Dakota Fanning in her first starring role), as well as the Walt Disney Studios Fellowship in Screenwriting, and the Producers Guild of America Diversity Program.
I have to say that I have a wonderful, supportive family. A Cat who is a little less supportive but wonderful anyway. And a great boyfriend and partner in life, love, and business. In fact, I dedicated “Zwoosh!” to my parents and to my boyfriend, Chris, who worked so hard to help me achieve this endeavour. I think I’m pretty lucky.
Fiona: Tell us your latest news?
I have a lot of projects coming into fruition in the public marketplace at this time. My new Indie Rose Books for Kids picture book, ZWOOSH, illustrated by the amazing Susan Lee, was released just this past August on Amazon and Kindle. We’re excited to begin getting first reviews in from children’s book reviewers, and they are everything we could have hoped for. One reviewer has already submitted “Zwoosh!” to the Midwest Book Review, and a major American radio network is looking at doing a little story on the book. And we’re hard at work on “Zwoosh!” the Audible audiobook and interactive app!
“Innovatively conceived and developed by Marie Rose, ‘ZWOOSH!’ takes children and the grown-ups who love them on a whimsical and interactive journey through space to meet green Martians, have a picnic with Moon Men and even play tag with comets – all before bedtime! Rose’s book, stunningly-illustrated by diverse Los Angeles artist Susan Lee, along with the wider Indie Rose Books for Kids (IRB4K) project, seeks to make bedtime highly-engaging and bring the entire family together for endless happily-ever-afters.”
“Hop on board and enjoy a journey through the galaxy on a rainbow rocket ship. Experience the colors of Saturn’s rings. Visit with a few of Jupiter’s many moons. Race with shooting stars. Share s’mores with strange little green moon men. Then glide back home again. Susan Lee’s brilliant illustrations capture the wonder and amazement of space travel as vividly described by author Marie Rose. Boys and girls with active imaginations will love all the places “Zwoosh!” takes them.”
